On June 8th, 1985, we celebrated our ‘first-ever high school class of ’75 reunion’. It was our 10th year since graduation, and we partied out at the Lake of the Woods Club from 9pm to midnight (or beyond!), dancing to the music of “Fat Juke”. We had a huge class turnout and our beloved teachers even showed up.

Our hand-typed, take-home reunion booklet contained this greeting from me, on its first page:

“This is, for many of us, the first chance we’ve had to get together with our classmates since our graduation ten years ago. Whatever you have done in the years since we all parted company—to who you are now—we welcome you back and extend this invitation to celebrate an anniversary among friends. Happy tenth year, ’75!”

Reading those words now, 50 years since our graduation and not just 10, makes me so grateful for the chance to see you all again this coming October. Some of our classmates have passed away, while some are still with us but are battling serious health issues. If you can show up, in any way, shape, form, and in any clothing whatsoever—we want you there! Each one of you was, and still is, a key member of what was considered, without a doubt, the greatest class to ever walk, (wreak havoc in), the halls of JM!

Do you remember: “1-2-3-4-5, ’75 don’t take no jive, 6-7-8-9-10, James Monroe gonna do it again!”

Come back to the ‘burg for our 50th reunion weekend, October 3rd to October 5th! Don’t blow it off because it’s easier to just stay home. None of us are 18 anymore… we’re 68+, and who knows when we’ll cross paths again. This is an opportunity… carpe diem and please don’t miss it. You owe it to yourself and to our classmates who don’t have the option of coming. Seriously.

We’ve got three great events planned over the weekend, with our big dance party on Saturday night the 4th, from 7 to 11pm, out at the Fredericksburg Country Club. Please come eat, drink and be very, very merry!
